Trat Ferry and Ferry Koh Chang
- To transfer between the mainland Trat and Koh Chang Island, there are two piers located within a 5-minute distance from each other.
- The Trat Ferry, formerly known as Center Point, is located at the Center Point Pier. This pier is closed and there is no longer in service.
- The Ferry Koh Chang is located at the Ao Thammachat Pier.
- These two ferries are commonly referred to as Koh Chang Ferry by locals, which create confusion for travelers.
- When going to Koh Chang Island, please specify the name of the pier you intend to use clearly between the Center Point Pier and Ao Thammachat Pier.
- All ferries serve passengers during the daytime and adjust their first and last departure times on the timetables based on tide conditions and daily travel demand.
- Tickets are not sold in advance, and reservations are not accepted. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so you will need to purchase your ticket upon arrival.
- On the mainland, a Songthaew picks up passengers from Trat 101 hotel to the Trat Ferry at Center Point Pier and The Ferry Koh Chang at Ao Thammachat Pier everyday. An additional fare is applied.
- A Songthaew is a mini truck with two bench seats in the back and a canopy on top. It does no have air conditioning. This vehicle is the main public transportation in Trat.
- Alternatively, you can rent a motorbike in the center of Trat near Trat 101 Hotel and ride it onto the ferry to Koh Chang Island. Please visit this link: Rent Motorbike

1.2. Crossing The Sea: Timetable & Fares between Mainland Trat and Koh Chang Island
According to feedback from our guests, the departures of Ferry Koh Chang at Ao Thammachat Pier are more frequent than Trat Ferry at Center Point Pier. This leads to more shops and services, including motorcycle rental, travel agencies, and Songthaew at Ao Sapparot Pier (the pier on Koh Chang Island where the Ferry Koh Chang docks) than at Center Point Pier on Koh Chang Island.
Upon arrival at any pier, you’ll find motorcycle rental shops, with many budget-friendly options in the vicinity. Additionally, there are ticket booths where you can purchase joint tickets for a return ferry to the mainland and transportation to various cities, such as Bangkok, Pattaya, and Cambodia. It is strongly recommended to purchase tickets in advance, especially during extended holidays.
1.3. Ground Transfers on Koh Chang Island (self-arranged)
To travel further into the island, you have three options:
Public Songthaew: More affordable, but may require waiting for other passengers. Stops are limited to the main road, so if your accommodation is off the main road, be prepared to walk. Private Songthaew: Offers direct transportation to your accommodation. Fares start from 500 Baht for a single trip and increase based on the distance.
